Product Overview

The P434 is a wired network camera in Reolink’s PoE series. The manufacturer specifies 3840x2160(8MP)@25fps, with an f=2.8-8mm;F=1.6(IR cut) lens. It is designed as a fixed-installation solution where one network cable handles both power and video transmission. No separate power outlet is required at the camera location, and the connection will not suffer from dropped frames caused by wireless interference.

All specifications on this page are taken from the Specifications table on Reolink’s official product page, without estimation or conversion. For items not listed by the manufacturer(such as the enclosure protection rating of certain models), we will not add information ourselves and will indicate this below.

If you are unsure how many cameras you need or whether an NVR is required, send us your floor plan or on-site photos before placing an order. We will provide recommendations based on your actual environment.

8MP Image Quality and Lens

The P434 has an officially specified resolution of 3840x2160(8MP)@25fps, with an f=2.8-8mm;F=1.6(IR cut) lens.

The field of view is Horizontal 94°-50° / Vertical 53°-30°. This is a standard range: with the same lens, a narrower viewing angle delivers clearer distant details but covers a smaller area at once; a wider viewing angle covers more space, at the cost of greater edge distortion and less-defined distant details.

In practice, first measure the distance from the installation point to the target, then decide whether to mount the camera higher or lower. With the same camera mounted at 2.8 m versus 3.5 m, the actual ground coverage can differ significantly.

Infrared Night Vision and Full-Color Night Vision

The P434’s infrared night vision reaches up to 30 m; it uses 2 infrared LEDs / 28mil / 850nm.

Full-color night vision: supported, with 1 spotlight / 4.7W / 6500K / 700 lumens. Infrared images are in black and white, which is discreet and will not startle passersby; full-color night vision uses the spotlight for illumination and can preserve color information such as clothing and vehicle colors when needed, which is practically helpful for subsequent identification.

During installation, avoid pointing the lens directly at a white wall or metal awning, as reflected infrared light may cause overexposure in the center of the image while making the surroundings difficult to see. If this cannot be avoided, tilting the camera downward by 10 to 15 degrees will usually provide a noticeable improvement.

Smart Detection and Notifications

The P434 supports person, vehicle, pet, and motion detection. Detection is completed on the camera, and notifications are pushed only when a target category is identified. This filters out common false-alert sources associated with traditional motion detection, such as rain, moving tree shadows, and changes in lighting.

Notifications can be toggled individually: if you want to receive person alerts but do not want to be woken by cats or dogs at night, simply turn off animal-detection notifications. Recording will continue as usual. Settings can be adjusted for each camera in the Reolink App.

When recording with a microSD card or NVR, you can tap the notification to view the relevant clip directly without manually dragging along the timeline.

PoE Power and Network Connection

P434 power specifications: IEEE 802.3af, 48V Active. A single network cable supplies power and transmits video simultaneously, so no separate power cable or outlet is required at the camera location. This is the cleanest solution for locations such as exterior walls, ceilings, and village-house rooftops where a network connection is available but no power outlet is present.

The network interface is 1× 10M/100Mbps RJ45. Power can be supplied by a PoE-enabled Reolink NVR or a standalone PoE Switch(must comply with the above standard).

The practical benefit of a wired connection is stable bandwidth: wireless cameras may experience dropped frames or delays when multiple people are viewing live video simultaneously or when there is heavy interference from nearby Wi-Fi networks, while PoE does not.

Storage, Playback, and Backup

P434 storage options: microSD up to 256GB; compatible with Reolink NVR.

A microSD solution is suitable for scenarios where only a few days of footage need to be retained and a single camera is the main focus. An NVR solution is suitable for multiple cameras, retention for several weeks, or reviewing footage from multiple angles at once. Both can be used together: microSD for backup and NVR as the primary storage.

We recommend using a surveillance-grade microSD card(designed for high write endurance and resistance to high and low temperatures). Ordinary phone cards can easily fail after several months of continuous writing, often without warning.

App, Two-Way Talk, and Remote Viewing

P434 audio: built-in microphone and speaker(supports two-way audio).

In the Reolink App, press and hold the talk button to speak to people on-site. This is useful for receiving deliveries at the door, giving customer instructions in a shop, or asking someone to move a vehicle from a parking space.

Remote viewing is available through the Reolink App(iOS/Android). The same account can add multiple cameras and supports split-screen viewing. You can also create sub-accounts with viewing-only permissions, without allowing changes to settings or deletion of recordings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PoE? What additional equipment do I need to buy?
PoE means "Power over Ethernet"—a single LAN cable delivers both power and video. This model uses the IEEE 802.3af, 48V Active power standard, so you need a compatible power source: a PoE-enabled Reolink NVR or a standalone PoE Switch. The camera itself does not include a power adapter.
What is the main difference between the P434 and P430?
According to the official specifications, there are 2 main differences: the lens (f=2.8-8mm vs. f=2.7-13.5mm) and the zoom (motorized zoom (magnification not specified officially) vs. 5× optical zoom). The two models are similar in other respects. When choosing, first consider whether you need "fixed wide-angle coverage" or "adjustable focus for distant targets", then decide based on your power supply budget.
How should I choose? Is there a simple rule of thumb?
Classify by installation distance: if you need to cover an entire wall within 3 meters, choose a fixed wide-angle model (P430) → if you need to identify license plates or faces from 5 to 15 meters, choose a model with optical zoom (P434/P430/P437/P850) → if you need 360° patrol coverage, choose a PTZ model. These three types should not be compared solely by price, as they are designed to solve different problems.
Do I have to run an Ethernet cable? Can I use Wi-Fi instead?
This is a PoE wired model and does not support Wi-Fi. Its advantages are a stable connection, no dropped frames, and no need to locate a power outlet at the camera position. The limitation is that an Ethernet cable must be routed to the installation point. If it is genuinely impossible to run a cable to the installation location, choose a Wi-Fi or 4G model from the same series instead.
Is the night vision actually clear?
The official specifications state that infrared night vision reaches up to 30 meters; infrared LEDs: 2 / 28mil / 850nm; full-color night vision is supported, with 1 spotlight / 4.7W / 6500K / 700 lumens. Actual image clarity depends on the ambient lighting conditions. In complete darkness, the image will be black-and-white infrared footage. Avoid pointing the lens directly at white walls or metal surfaces to reduce reflective overexposure.
How long can the recordings be retained? Is there a monthly fee?
This model supports microSD card storage up to 256GB and can be paired with a Reolink NVR, with no monthly subscription required. The retention period depends on the card/hard drive capacity, resolution, and recording mode (continuous or motion-triggered only). For long-term storage, we recommend pairing it with an NVR and using a surveillance-grade hard drive.
Does this camera support two-way talk?
Yes. The official specifications list audio as “built-in microphone and speaker (two-way audio supported).” In the App, simply press and hold the talk button to speak to people at the scene.
How wide is the camera’s field of view? What type of installation location is it suitable for?
The official field of view is Horizontal 94°-50° / Vertical 53°-30°. This model features a motorized zoom lens (official magnification not specified), allowing you to adjust the viewing angle according to the distance and cover both near and far subjects. Before installation, we recommend measuring the distance from the installation point to the target, then deciding on the mounting height and angle.
Is this Hong Kong official stock? How long is the warranty?
This is Hong Kong official stock and comes with a local warranty certificate and a 2-year warranty. Non-Hong Kong official stock generally only comes with the seller’s own warranty; repairs must be sent back to the country of origin, with the associated time and shipping costs borne by the customer.
Overseas parallel imports are a little cheaper. Are they worth buying?
Not recommended. Overseas versions may differ from Hong Kong versions in terms of voltage, plugs, App regional services, and warranty coverage, and there may be no local support if something goes wrong. We only guarantee Hong Kong official stock. Versions shipped from overseas warehouses (Australia, the UK, Germany, Singapore, Canada, the US, Malaysia, France, and Dubai) are not covered by our warranty.

Want to confirm whether this model is suitable for your installation environment?

Send us a photo or floor plan of the installation location. Based on the site conditions, we can recommend the number of cameras, power supply method, and cable length to help you avoid buying the wrong specifications.
