Product Overview
The CB2 4G is a battery camera designed for locations where “there is simply no Wi-Fi”. It features a built-in 4G LTE module—just insert a data SIM card and it connects to the internet on its own. No router, network cable, or power cable is required. Whether installed on the exterior wall of a village house, in a warehouse, a unit under renovation, or around a construction site, you can still view the footage on your phone.
All specifications on this page have been extracted item by item from EZVIZ’s official CB2 4G product page: CS-CB2-R105-1K3F4GA, 1/2.8" 3MP CMOS, 4mm F1.6, 106° (diagonal)/90° (horizontal)/48° (vertical), 2304×1296, 15fps, H.265/H.264, 2000mAh battery, microSD up to 512GB, DC 5V/2A (power adapter sold separately).
Note the difference between this and a regular Wi-Fi battery camera: the 4G version comes with a monthly SIM card fee, but in return offers “complete independence”. Even if your home loses power, your broadband connection goes down, or broadband has not yet been installed, you can still view the footage as long as there is a 4G signal. By contrast, if your installation location already has stable Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi version will be more economical.

A Truly Wi-Fi-Free Installation
There are only two steps: insert the SIM card and power on to pair. The 4G module communicates directly with the cellular network, so you do not need to provide any network environment. This is especially useful for units that are “installing the camera before installing broadband” — you can start recording during the renovation period without waiting for the broadband technician.
The LTE bands officially listed are EU version B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28. The 900/1800/2100/2600MHz bands used by Hong Kong’s major telecom operators are covered by this set, so they are generally usable. However, for rural areas, outlying islands, or deep indoor locations with weak signals, it is recommended to test the 4G signal strength with your phone at the same location before deciding.
- Insert the SIM card and use—no router required
- Suitable for renovation periods/construction sites/village houses
- Coverage of commonly used Hong Kong bands (B1/B3/B7/B8/B20/B28)
2K/3MP with a 106° Field of View
The official specifications state 2304×1296 (3MP, referred to as 2K by EZVIZ), 4mm F1.6, and a 106° diagonal field of view. This combination is practical for “one parking space or one entrance”: it is clear enough to see visitors’ clothing and the general outline of license plates, while maintaining good light intake at night.
Optically, 106° is not considered ultra-wide-angle. The advantage is less edge distortion and more natural facial proportions; the trade-off is a narrower coverage area. For larger areas, you will need two cameras or a pan-and-tilt model. When choosing, first decide whether you need to “see wider” or “see clearer”.
- Native 2304×1296 3MP
- F1.6 large aperture helps with nighttime imaging
- Standard-ish field of view, not suitable for large areas
Real-World Battery Life of the 2000mAh Battery
The official battery capacity is 2000mAh. Based on an estimate of 20–30 triggers per day, with 10 seconds of event recording each time, it generally lasts 2–4 weeks. If the installation location has heavy foot traffic or long-duration live viewing is enabled, battery life will be significantly reduced. This is an inherent limitation of the 4G version—the 4G module itself consumes more power than Wi-Fi.
Therefore, the installation location should ideally be within reach for battery removal and charging, or the camera should be used with a solar panel. If you want battery life that can last “a year without attention”, choose an EB series model with 5200mAh or more.
- 2000mAh rechargeable battery
- Heavy foot traffic will significantly reduce battery life
- A solar panel is recommended, or install it in a location where the battery can be removed
AI Human/Vehicle Detection and Two-Way Talk
The official specifications state support for AI human and vehicle detection, as well as two-way talk. Compared with basic motion detection, AI classification can filter out false alerts caused by leaves, raindrops, and changes in lighting. This is particularly important for the 4G version—every false alert triggers a notification and consumes battery power.
Two-way talk lets you speak directly to people at the scene. At warehouses or construction sites, this is often used to tell someone to stop performing a dangerous action or to tell a delivery driver where to leave the goods.
- AI distinguishes people from vehicles to reduce false alerts
- Two-way talk
- False alarms are more costly with the 4G version, making AI filtering even more important
Storage and power supply: two items you need to prepare yourself
For storage, the official specifications support microSD cards up to 512GB; the card must be purchased separately. You can also subscribe to EZVIZ CloudPlay for cloud backup. For power, the official requirement is DC 5V/2A, and the power adapter must be purchased separately — many customers mistakenly think the power adapter is included.
Our recommendation: a 128GB card is sufficient for several months of event recordings. Choose a U3/A2 surveillance-grade card for better endurance; purchase a branded 5V/2A or higher power adapter and install it inside a waterproof box.
- microSD up to 512GB (card sold separately)
- DC 5V/2A power adapter sold separately
- Recommended 128GB surveillance-grade card
Installation location and water resistance: no IP rating listed by the manufacturer
The official specifications for the CB2 4G do not list an IP water-resistance rating. This does not mean it cannot be used outdoors, but it does mean that long-term exposure to direct rain should not be considered guaranteed — the power connector and SIM card slot are the two areas most vulnerable to water.
In practice, install it under an awning, beneath a covered walkway, or in a location where the underside of the camera is sheltered; make sure the SIM card slot and USB cover are firmly closed. If outdoor installation is unavoidable, adding a simple rain shield is much cheaper than paying for repairs later.
- No IP rating listed in the official specifications
- Recommended to install in a sheltered location
- Make sure the SIM card slot and USB cover are firmly closed

Frequently asked questions
Is a 4G SIM card required?
Yes. The CB2 4G does not have a Wi-Fi module, so you must insert a data-enabled SIM card (typically a nano SIM) to connect to the internet. You will need to provide the SIM card and monthly data plan.
Can SIM cards from Hong Kong telecom operators be used?
The official specifications list support for B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28 on the EU version. The 900/1800/2100/2600MHz bands used by major Hong Kong networks are all within this range, so they should generally work. However, actual signal quality depends on coverage at the installation location. We recommend testing the connection speed with a mobile phone at the same location first.
How much data is needed each month?
It depends on the number of events and viewing time. Based on 30 events per day, with each event uploaded for 15 seconds, usage is approximately 1–3GB/month. Frequent live viewing will significantly increase data usage. A plan with at least 5GB is recommended.
How long does the battery last?
The official battery capacity is 2000mAh. Based on 20–30 events per day, it lasts approximately 2–4 weeks. It will last less time in areas with heavy foot traffic or with frequent live viewing. You can pair it with a solar panel or install it in a location where it is easy to remove and recharge.
Do I need to purchase a power adapter separately?
Yes. The official specification is DC 5V/2A, and the power adapter is not included. Please purchase a 5V/2A or higher power supply separately and add a waterproof box.
Is a microSD card included?
No. The camera supports up to 512GB. A 128GB surveillance-grade card (U3/A2) is recommended.
Where can recordings be stored?
Recordings can be stored on a microSD card (locally), or in the cloud by subscribing to EZVIZ CloudPlay. Local storage has no monthly fee, while cloud storage can prevent footage from being lost if the camera is damaged or destroyed.
Is it waterproof?
The official CB2 4G specifications do not list an IP rating. When installing it, we recommend adding an awning or cover to avoid prolonged direct exposure to rain. If a clearly specified IP65/IP66 rating is required, please choose an EB series model instead.
CB2 4G: Start recording even before broadband is installed
Before placing your order, tell us the installation location and 4G signal conditions. We can help determine whether the 4G version is suitable, or recommend a Wi-Fi/PoE model instead.
