RLC-81MA Positioning and Camera Design

The RLC-81MA is a dual-lens bullet camera. The wide-angle and telephoto lenses output simultaneously: one view shows the overall scene while the other captures details, so there is no need to rely on digital zoom afterwards.

The official resolution is 8MP 4K dual-lens, with a frame rate of 25fps and f=2.8mm ＋ f=8mm dual lenses.

The field of view is Horizontal 109°-43° ／ Vertical 58°-25°。Before installation, measure the distance from the mounting point to the target. The actual coverage can vary greatly when the same camera is installed at heights of 2.5 metres and 3.5 metres.

Night Vision and Full-Colour Mode

During installation, avoid pointing the lens directly at a white wall or metal canopy. Otherwise, reflected supplementary light may cause overexposure in the centre of the image while making the surroundings difficult to see. If this cannot be avoided, tilting the camera downward by 10 to 15 degrees usually provides a noticeable improvement.

Smart Detection and Mobile Notifications

Supported detection: people, vehicles and animals. Detection is completed on the camera. Notifications are pushed only when the target category is identified, filtering out false alarms from traditional motion detection caused by rain, tree shadows and changes in lighting.

Notifications can be enabled or disabled individually. If you want to receive people alerts but do not want to be woken by cats or dogs at night, simply turn off animal-detection notifications; recording will continue as normal.

When recording with a microSD card or NVR, you can tap the notification to view the relevant clip directly, without manually dragging through the timeline.

PoE Power and Network Connection

The RLC-81MA uses PoE power (IEEE 802.3af／at): a single network cable supplies power and transmits video simultaneously, so no separate power cable or socket is required at the camera location.

The power source can be a PoE-enabled Reolink NVR or a standalone PoE Switch.

The practical benefit of a wired connection is stable bandwidth. Wireless cameras may experience dropped frames and delays when multiple people are viewing live video simultaneously or when there is heavy interference from nearby Wi-Fi networks; PoE does not.

Storage, Playback and Backup

Supports local storage on a microSD card and centralised recording with a Reolink NVR. Neither option requires a monthly fee.

The microSD option is suitable for a single camera when you only need to retain footage for a few days. The NVR option is suitable for multiple cameras, footage retention of several weeks, or reviewing clips from multiple angles at once.

A surveillance-grade microSD card is recommended. Standard phone cards can easily fail after several months of continuous writing, and card failure usually occurs without warning.

App, Two-Way Talk and Remote Viewing

Audio: Two-way voice. In the Reolink App, press and hold the talk button to speak to people on site. This is useful for receiving parcels at the door or speaking to customers in a shop.

Remote viewing is available via the Reolink App (iOS／Android). Multiple cameras can be added to the same account, with support for split-screen viewing and timeline playback.

You can also create sub-accounts with view-only access, without permission to change settings or delete recordings—helping prevent someone from accidentally deleting footage.
