Product Overview

The NVS16 is a powerful NVR for medium to large premises: its 16 PoE ports directly power 16 cameras, while up to 8 additional wireless (Wi-Fi) cameras can be connected for a total of 24 channels. It comes with a built-in 4TB hard drive and 2 SATA ports, supporting up to 16TB in total.

What 16 PoE Ports Mean in Practice

The 16 PoE ports allow you to connect 16 wired cameras directly, with all of them powered by the NVR, eliminating the need to install a separate power supply for each camera. For multi-floor premises or chain stores, this saves not only power outlets but also electrician labor time and costs.

Each port supports up to 25W, as well as the 802.3af (15.4W) and 802.3at (30W) standards, making it suitable for PTZ cameras and models with spotlights. However, when all 16 ports are fully loaded simultaneously, the total power is limited by the power adapter (DC 48-54V). If you plan to connect multiple high-power cameras, we recommend checking the total power consumption with us first.

Built-in 4TB and 16TB Maximum Capacity

The original package includes 1×4TB hard drive and 2 SATA ports (up to 8TB each), for a total capacity of up to 16TB. A 4TB drive can store approximately one to two weeks of 24/7 recording from 16 2K cameras; to retain recordings for more than one month, we recommend adding a second 8TB drive.

H.265 is key here: at the same image quality, its bitrate is 30–40% lower than H.264, providing 30–40% more recording days without the need to purchase a larger hard drive.

HDMI 4K and 4-Channel Synchronous Playback

HDMI supports 3840×2160, with an additional VGA output. Footage from 16 cameras can be displayed in a split-screen layout on a TV, allowing you to view the entire premises without turning on a computer or logging into the App camera by camera.

With 4-channel synchronous playback, footage from four angles can be displayed side by side on the same timeline. For investigations such as “a person enters through Door A, walks down the corridor, and exits through Door B,” this is much faster than reviewing each camera separately.

User Permissions and Remote Management

Supports up to 20 users (1 administrator + 19 sub-accounts), allowing different permissions to be assigned to store managers, supervisors, and owners. Up to 12 channels can be streamed simultaneously (10 sub-streams + 2 main streams), so multiple users can view footage at the same time without disconnecting one another.

Supports protocols including P2P, RTSP, SMTP, SSL/TLS, DDNS, and FTP. Browsers supported include Edge／Firefox／Chrome／Safari. For chain stores that need centralized viewing from headquarters, RTSP and DDNS are two essential capabilities.

Cooling, Hard Drive, and Long-Term Maintenance

2.4kg, 330×45×285mm. It has a 1U rack width and fits standard racks. Operating temperature: -10°C to 45°C. However, without airflow inside the rack, the actual temperature may be much higher than room temperature. Leaving 1U of space for heat dissipation is recommended.

The hard drive is the only component subject to regular wear. We recommend checking the hard drive health and "actual recording days" every six months. If the number of days suddenly decreases, it usually means that bad sectors have started to appear on the hard drive.

Suitable: Locations with 10-24 cameras — chain stores, industrial buildings, schools, larger warehouses, and multi-storey residences. The 16 PoE ports centralize cabling and simplify management.

Not suitable: 25 cameras or more (choose NVS36), only 4-8 cameras needed (NVS4 / NVS8 offer better value), or fully wireless systems (choose NVS12W).
