Argus PT is a battery-powered pan-tilt camera with a rotation range of Pan: 355°, Tilt: 140°, supporting 64／Wi-Fi preset positions. Once installed, there is no need to climb up and manually adjust the angle; simply use the App to turn it directly toward the target location.

The battery is a 21.6Wh rechargeable battery, while the solar panel is the Reolink Solar Panel (3W). The practical meaning of this combination is that one full charge plus solar replenishment allows long-term operation in locations without a power source. Reolink officially notes that battery life is affected by settings, usage, and temperature.

Hong Kong summers generally provide sufficient sunlight for the solar panel to maintain the battery; in winter or during prolonged cloudy weather, pay attention to the battery level. The App displays the remaining battery level, and charging is recommended when it falls below 20%.

Notifications can be enabled or disabled individually. To extend battery life, lower the notification frequency and set the sensitivity to medium; to record more comprehensively, increase the sensitivity, but be prepared to charge the battery more frequently.

Installation Location and WiFi Signal

The battery-powered camera has no network cable, so the signal relies entirely on WiFi. Before installation, use the Reolink App to test the signal strength at the site: do not install it if there are fewer than two bars, otherwise it may record footage but fail to transmit it, resulting in intermittent playback when reviewing footage later.

The recommended installation height is 2.5 to 3 meters: if installed too low, the camera can be easily touched; if installed too high, faces will be viewed from above. Tilting the lens downward by 15 to 20 degrees helps capture both faces and the ground.

A common issue in Hong Kong is that exterior walls are made of reinforced concrete, which causes significant signal attenuation. If the signal is insufficient, try adjusting the router antenna toward the installation location, or add a Mesh node between the two. This usually makes a more noticeable difference than switching to a more expensive camera.
