Product Overview
The Reolink E1 Outdoor is a mid-range outdoor pan-tilt camera: 5MP (2560×1920), a 1/2.7" sensor, and f=2.8-8mm 3× optical zoom, paired with 355° horizontal and 50° vertical pan-tilt movement and auto-tracking. Compared with fixed-lens outdoor cameras, it offers one extra feature: Zoom.
The official resolution is 2560×1920 (5 megapixels) @20fps, with a horizontal field of view of 90°-50° and a vertical field of view of 53°-30° (the two ends correspond to wide-angle and telephoto respectively); 12m infrared night vision (10× 850nm LEDs), plus 4× 3.3W 6500K spotlights for full-color night vision.
The pan-tilt range is 355°/50°. It supports 1 guard position and up to 64 preset positions, with official support for auto-tracking; storage supports up to a 512GB microSD card; Wi-Fi supports 2.4GHz/5GHz (802.11 a/ac/b/g/n); IP65, Φ90×120mm, 458g.

Six Key Highlights
Image Quality
5MP 2560×1920
Practical Uses of 3× Optical Zoom
f=2.8-8mm provides 3× optical zoom, not digital magnification. In practical terms: the wide-angle end provides a 90° view, while switching to the telephoto end lets you see subjects 15-20m away clearly, without the image becoming blurry due to digital enlargement.
This is highly practical for parking spaces, the exterior of village houses, and shop entrances — first check the full view for people, then zoom in to see who they are. At the same distance, digital zoom would only give you a blocky, pixelated image.
- f=2.8-8mm, 3× optical zoom
- Wide angle 90° → Telephoto 50°
- Not digital magnification; image quality does not deteriorate with zoom
355°/50° Pan-Tilt, 64 Preset Positions and Auto-Tracking
355° horizontally and 50° vertically. The 50° vertical range is less than the 90° offered by indoor cameras, meaning it is mainly designed to view "forward and slightly downward" and is not suitable for looking directly below; an installation height of 2.5-3m is recommended, with the lens angled slightly downward.
It officially supports 1 guard position and up to 64 preset positions, and explicitly supports auto-tracking. The 64 preset positions are more than the 32 offered by most models, making it suitable for locations that need to patrol multiple fixed points.
- 355°/50° Pan-Tilt
- 64 Preset Positions+1 Guard Position
- Supports Auto-Tracking
12m Infrared+4 Spotlights
There are two types of night vision: 10× 850nm infrared LEDs provide a 12m black-and-white image; 4× 3.3W 6500K spotlights provide full color and act as a deterrent. It has more spotlights than comparable models, resulting in more even coverage.
Spotlights consume power, but this is a plug-in Wi-Fi camera rather than a battery-powered model, so there is no need to worry about battery life. You can confidently set the spotlights to turn on when a person is detected, or even leave them on for extended periods.
- 12m Infrared (10× 850nm)
- 4 Spotlights 3.3W/6500K
- Plug-in model; use the spotlights with confidence
IP65 and Outdoor Installation
The official IP65 rating provides protection against dust and water spray, making it suitable for outdoor use, but it is not waterproof against immersion and cannot withstand high-pressure water jets. Φ90×120mm, 458g.
The key to outdoor installation is waterproofing the connections: point the power connector downward and add waterproof tape or a waterproof box. If this step is done properly, the camera’s service life can usually be extended by several years.
- IP65 Dustproof and Water-Spray Resistant
- Φ90×120mm/458g
- Power port faces downward and is waterproof
5MP with 1/2.7" sensor
2560×1920 has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is taller than 16:9 and better suited to “vertically oriented subjects” (people and vehicles) such as entrances and parking spaces. 20fps is smoother than the usual 15fps.
The 1/2.7" sensor with an F1.6 aperture provides plenty of detail during the day; infrared is used at night, while the 4:3 aspect ratio provides more complete vertical coverage.
- 2560×1920 5MP @20fps(4:3)
- 1/2.7" CMOS|f=2.8-8mm Max. F1.6
- Field of view: 90°-50°/53°-30°
Dual-band Wi-Fi and storage
Wireless support for 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n dual-band (2.4GHz/5GHz), with WPA/WPA2 encryption. When the outdoor camera is far from the router, use 2.4GHz for better wall penetration; use 5GHz for higher bitrates at close range.
Supports up to 512GB microSD storage, primarily for motion-triggered recording. For 24/7 continuous recording, we recommend using a PoE model with an NVR, as continuous recording over Wi-Fi is less stable than a wired connection.
- Dual-band Wi-Fi(2.4G/5G)
- Up to 512GB microSD
- For continuous recording, we recommend using PoE+NVR

FAQs
What is the biggest difference between E1 Outdoor and E1 Outdoor Pro?
Resolution and Wi-Fi. The Pro features 4K 3840×2160, 1/2.8", and Wi-Fi 6 support(802.11ax); E1 Outdoor features 5MP 2560×1920, 1/2.7", and 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n. Both offer 3× optical zoom, 355°/50°, IP65, and weigh 458g.
How far can the 3× optical zoom see?
It depends on the size of the subject you want to see clearly. At a distance of 15-20 meters, the telephoto end can identify a person's clothing and body shape, while reading a license plate requires a closer distance or better lighting. Optical zoom does not become blurry like digital zoom.
Will the 50° vertical range be insufficient?
The 50° range is mainly suitable for viewing forward and slightly downward. It is best installed at a height of 2.5-3 meters with the lens angled slightly downward. To view directly below, such as the base of a wall, you will need to adjust the base or change the installation position.
Will the spotlight be too bright and disturb the neighbors?
The 4 × 3.3W 6500K spotlights are indeed fairly bright. As Hong Kong residential areas are densely populated, we recommend setting them to turn on only when a person is detected and adjusting the lighting angle to avoid shining directly into neighboring units.
How do I use the 64 preset positions?
They are suitable for fixed patrol routes: set and name a preset position for each patrol point, then tap through them in sequence. In practice, you only need to set the 4-8 angles you will actually use.
Can it record continuously 24/7?
Not recommended. Wi-Fi models are less stable for continuous recording than wired models, and continuous recording will also fill up the memory card. For 24/7 recording, use a PoE model with an NVR instead.
Can one camera cover one parking space?
Yes. The 355° pan/tilt range combined with the 90° wide-angle view is more than sufficient for one standard parking space. The telephoto end can also show the inside of the vehicle or the license plate area.
How long is the power cable?
The official product page does not specify the cable length, so we cannot provide one. If the installation location is far from the power outlet, we recommend measuring the distance first and adding an extension cable if necessary, while ensuring proper waterproofing.
Can IP65 be used completely outdoors?
It can be used outdoors, but it is not protected against immersion or high-pressure water jets. Keep the connectors facing downward and add waterproof tape or a waterproof box.
Does it support Alexa/Google?
The official specifications list Smart Home Compatibility: Google Assistant. Alexa is not listed on this page; please confirm before placing your order if required.
Want to know whether the 3× optical zoom can clearly cover your parking space?
Tell us the distance between the installation point and the parking space. We can calculate the actual area the telephoto end can capture and confirm whether you need the 4K Pro version.
