Product Overview
The Reolink Argus PT Ultra combines 4K 8MP resolution with a pan-tilt body offering 355° horizontal and 140° vertical coverage. It is powered by a 21.6Wh battery and connects via Wi-Fi, so no network cable is required. Its key advantage is covering multiple directions from a single mounting position while retaining 4K resolution.
The official resolution is 3840×2160 (8 megapixels) @15fps, with a 90° horizontal, 47° vertical, and 110° diagonal field of view, using H.265 encoding. The pan-tilt range is 355°/140°, with support for 1 Guard Point and up to 32 preset positions.
The official specifications table appears to have the labels in the two night vision columns reversed. This page presents the specifications based on physical plausibility (see the explanation below), and the manufacturer's FAQ recommends verifying them against actual footage. Storage supports up to a 128GB microSD card, with IP65 water resistance and a weight of 481g (including the battery).

Reolink Argus PT Ultra body design (official image)
The two night vision columns in the official table are mislabeled (important clarification)
In Reolink's official Argus PT Ultra specifications table, the “Infrared Night Vision” column lists Spotlight: 2pcs/2.4W/6500K (i.e. spotlights), while the “Color Night Vision” column lists Up to 10m, LED: 2pcs/1.2W/850nm (i.e. infrared LEDs) — the contents of the two columns are clearly reversed.
This page presents the specifications according to physical plausibility and conventions used by products in the same series: infrared night vision up to 10 meters (2 × 1.2W 850nm), while full-color night vision is provided by 2 × 2.4W 6500K spotlights. We have kept this explanation because the manufacturer's inconsistency should not be concealed, nor should an obvious error be copied as a selling point.
- Infrared: 10 meters (2 × 1.2W 850nm)
- Full Color: 2 × 2.4W 6500K spotlights
- The contents of the two official columns are reversed, as explained on this page
355°/140° Pan-Tilt and 32 Preset Positions
The 140° vertical range is considerably larger than the 90° offered by most pan-tilt cameras, allowing it to look sharply downward as well as tilt upward for broader three-dimensional coverage. The 355° horizontal range leaves an approximately 5° blind spot, which can be positioned against a wall during installation.
It supports 1 Guard Point and 32 preset positions. The Guard Point is the position the camera automatically returns to after disconnection or standby, making the main entrance or exit the most practical location. We recommend setting only 4–6 angles that you actually use as preset positions.
- 355° Horizontal/140° Vertical
- 32 Preset Positions+1 Guard Point
- We recommend setting only 4–6 frequently used angles
The Trade-Off Between 4K and a 90° Field of View
The 90° horizontal field of view is narrower than the 105° on the Argus 3 Ultra, but the subject appears larger and more detailed at the same distance. Combined with the pan-tilt coverage, this is a reasonable trade-off.
H.265 encoding, with a maximum of 15fps for both the main and sub streams. 4K files are larger, so a 128GB card provides less recording time in high-activity scenes. Important footage should be downloaded immediately.
- 3840×2160 8MP @15fps
- 90°/47°/110° Field of View
- H.265 Encoding
21.6Wh Battery and Solar Power
The 21.6Wh battery can be charged via USB Type-C and can be paired with the Reolink Solar Panel 2. The official documentation states that battery life varies depending on settings, usage, and temperature.
Pan-tilt motor movement consumes additional power, and frequent manual panning can noticeably reduce battery life. Using preset positions is not only convenient, but also a way to save power.
- 21.6Wh Rechargeable Battery
- Compatible with Solar Panel 2
- Extra Power Consumption from Pan-Tilt Movement
Detection, Voice Alerts & Notifications
Official smart detection includes PIR, person, vehicle, and pet classification. The PIR detection range can be adjusted up to 10 meters, with a 120° horizontal angle—wider than the 100° on the Argus 3 Ultra and better suited to a pan-tilt camera.
Supports customized verbal alerts, real-time email alerts, and push notifications. Verbal alerts are more useful than a simple alarm sound at entrances, allowing you to say “Please leave” or “Recording in progress” directly.
- PIR 10m / 120°
- Supports Customized Verbal Alerts
- Person / Vehicle / Pet Classification
IP65, Weight & Wi-Fi
Officially rated IP65 and suitable for outdoor use; not waterproof against immersion. Dimensions: Φ98×122mm; weight: 481g (including battery); operating temperature: -10°C to 55°C.
Wireless connectivity is dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz / 5GHz, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax) with WPA3 support; supports up to 128GB microSD storage. The app supports pan-tilt control, preset positions, playback, and two-way audio, and is compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa.
- IP65 Dustproof & Water-Resistant
- Φ98×122mm / 481g
- Dual-Band Wi-Fi + WPA3

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the biggest difference between the Argus PT Ultra and Argus 3 Ultra?
Pan/tilt and storage. The PT Ultra has a 355°/140° pan/tilt system, 32 preset positions, 128GB of storage, and weighs 481g; the 3 Ultra has a fixed lens, 512GB of storage, and weighs 335g. Both feature 4K 8MP resolution, a 1/2.7" sensor, and a 21.6Wh battery.
Why do the two night vision columns in the specifications table seem to be reversed?
They are indeed reversed. The official "Infrared Night Vision" column lists the spotlight (2.4W 6500K), while the "Color Night Vision" column lists the 850nm LED. This page labels them according to the reasonable interpretation and retains the explanatory note. We recommend checking the actual footage for confirmation.
What is the benefit of the 140° vertical range?
It can look steeply downward, such as at the ground directly beside a wall, and can also tilt upward. This provides a wider three-dimensional coverage area than a 90° pan/tilt system. It is especially useful when installed in a corner.
How should I use the 32 preset positions?
Set and name only 4–6 angles that you will actually use, such as the front door, side door, parking space, and passageway, and leave the rest unused. Having too many preset positions can make them harder to remember.
Does it support automatic tracking?
Auto Tracking is not listed in the official specifications for the Argus PT Ultra. For automatic tracking, choose the Altas PT Ultra or the TrackMix series.
Is 128GB enough?
It is generally sufficient for motion-triggered recording. However, if you need to retain footage for long periods or record in 4K at a high bitrate, 128GB will be overwritten more quickly. We recommend downloading important clips immediately.
Will the pan/tilt system consume a lot of power?
It will consume more power than a fixed camera. We recommend using preset positions, reducing manual movement, and pairing it with a solar panel.
Can IP65 cameras be installed outdoors?
Yes, they can be used outdoors, but they are not protected against immersion or high-pressure water jets. Keep the connectors facing downward and add waterproof tape.
What is the relationship between the 120° PIR detection angle and the 355° pan angle?
The PIR detection angle is fixed, while only the lens rotates. Therefore, the PIR sensor should face the main direction from which people approach; otherwise, even if the lens rotates toward that direction, motion may not trigger recording.
Does it support 5GHz Wi-Fi?
Yes. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz/5GHz) and WPA3 encryption. 5GHz is recommended for 4K uploads.
Want 4K panoramic coverage from a single wall position?
Send us photos of the installation site and the angles you want to cover. We can help determine whether the 140° vertical range is sufficient and how the preset positions should be configured.
